the exhaustion strikes

August 19: Saturday

As I recover from the rigor of the Alps and attempt to make international calls to sort out my apartment move-in situation back in California, please enjoy the vast array of ethnically diverse hats that soldiers in the Austrian-Hungarian army wore into World War I. In this way, perhaps, it was both backwards and forward-thinking - because isn't a multi-ethnic state something that we should hope to peaceably achieve?
