"Who would have thought that stealing the very first result of 'Vienna' on Google Images would make my blog look so professional."

- Alex Figueiredo

But hey, that's just because I don't have any pictures of Vienna yet.

Anyways, this blog is going to be, to the best of my abilities, a journal of my time in Vienna, Austria - think part photo album, part observational essay, part failed comedy routine. More than anything, it's a small work of expressionism, a microcosm of my thoughts exploring the city. Some will be somber, others light-hearted. The style (and language) will for the most part be colorful. And although this is a homework assignment, I try my best to not act like it. At all.

For Professor Stuart: I made the unconventional choice of turning the blog assignment into a conventional blog.. It's being read by my parents and family members, so that they may be able to experience a little of Austria with me, and so don't be surprised when you see writing such as "my TA Joel" or other articulations that would seem weird if aimed at you.

The blog requirements are (mostly) included within the blog, inserted more or less naturally into the narrative of Vienna exploration. For example, getting lost in Vienna occurs partly on August 6 and more majorly on August 12; my opinions on the public transport system are on August 15; my observation of Beidermeier occurs on August 22; my Schoenberg listening happens on August 20. I do think, however, that some of my strongest writing, and some of the most interesting experiences I have in Vienna, are outside of these areas.
